Tonbridge Athletic Club’s men and women won their second matches in the Southern Counties Veterans League Kent Division, on Friday evening. Competing at Dartford, the men won with 80.5 points, just ahead of Dartford with 79, whilst the women scored 74 to second-placed Medway and Maidstone with 69.
In the men’s match Floyd Wilks won three events in the over 50s age group, sprinting 200m in 24.79, clearing 1.50m in the High Jump and 2.30m in the Pole Vault. Luke Williams won the over 35 Pole Vault with 3.55m.
The women’s team had several winners, as Nichola Evans continued her good form with a 1500m victory in 4.58.53, which was a personal best. Angie Crush won the Pole Vault with a 2.30m pb clearance and Charlotte Nicholls the Javelin with 23.26m. In the over 50s category Diane Wright won the 200m in 30.49 and Sarah Westrap-Boon the Pole Vault with 1.80m. These two combined with Suzanne Bachelor and Bethan Armory to win the 4x100m relay.
There was another superb veteran performance at Battersea Park, London on Tuesday, when Helen Gaunt won the Sri Chimnoy 5km road race in 16.40, setting a new Tonbridge AC record for all three age groups of over 35, 40 and 45.
The Kent Schools Championships took place at Gillingham on Saturday and amongst the winners from Tonbridge AC were Harry Wrigley (under 17 400m hurdles, 58.03), Neve Raymond (under 17 800m 2.20.68), Joel Graffin (under 15 1500m 4.22.71) and Jacob McGeachy (under 15 200m 24.62).
Rae Le Fay won the Senior Girls 1500m steeplechase in 5.01.79 at the Sussex Schools Championships, whilst Annabelle Souter won the Somerset Schools Senior Girls 3000m in 10.47.37.
Jake Brislane, who attends Warwick University, won the men’s A 1500m race at Loughborough on Wednesday evening with a pb of 3.53.20.
