New applicants please note that one or two groups do currently have waiting/interest lists. Applicants to these groups will have your application acknowledged and will be dealt with in date order.
We do not generally accept ‘2nd claim members’ or ‘training members’ , whilst ‘Higher claim members’ will be considered to compete in league teams.
Children in school years 3-6 are welcome to join our Junior and Senior Tornados group. For more information regarding this please visit the Tornados group section on this website. Those in school year 5 and above can apply for a trial with Tonbridge AC.
You may be interested in West Kent Athletics Club, www.westkentathleticsclub.co.uk. This is NOT affiliated to Tonbridge Athletic Club, but it is run by two of the Club’s international athletes, who are trained coaches.
There is an extremely high demand to belong to Tonbridge Athletic Club, therefore all potential members are required to attend a trial session in order to:
- See whether joining the club is appropriate for them
- Help identify which particular track or field events would be of interest
We are a wide-ability club, but all of our members are expected to:
- Try their hardest
- Engage with and attend training regularly
- Represent the Club in competitions
- Show manners and respect to coaches and other members
The trial helps us determine whether a potential member has the right approach to athletics, therefore the coach has the final say in who is accepted.
Please do NOT come to Club sessions without first making a trial membership enquiry (see below) and then waiting for an invitation from our Trials Coordinator and attending a pre-arranged trial session. You will not be able to participate until you have been registered with the Trials Coordinator and have received a time and date for a trial session.
There is no charge for trials. If, following the trial, it is decided that the club is not suitable for you, no money is owed. If however it is suitable for you then your membership is deemed to have started at the first trial.
The Club is run entirely by volunteers.
Trial Details
At present trials are for any athlete year 6 and above, under 10’s can visit the Tornados page.
Membership Fees April 2025- March 2026
The athlete’s membership fee for your first year is £200. This includes the following:
- A one-off joining fee of £50
- A Club vest
- £20 England Registration Fee
- £130 2025/2026 club membership subscriptions
The membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March.
We are unable to reduce subscriptions should you join part way through the year.
Tonbridge Athletic Club does not want financial hardship to deter athletes, so if the cost is an issue please contact the Membership Secretary in confidence.
