The Tonbridge Athletic Club under 17 and 20 age group team finished second from six clubs, on Sunday, in their latest match within the UK Youth Development League. This was an improved performance on the previous match, as gradually athletes get used to competing again, after a difficult year.
In the under 20 women’s events, there were wins from Freya Ridge (High Jump 1.65m) and Kirsty-Anne Ebbage (Hammer 42.95m). Ebbage added 52 centimetres to her own club age record, which also stands as the overall club mark.
Zac Beasty set a new personal best of 23.40 to win the under 20 men’s A-string 200 metres, in his first outing over the distance this year. He also won the High Jump, clearing 1.75 metres. In the same age group, James Kingston had a busy day, winning both the 800m (2.05.03) and 3000m (9.09.36), having started the day with a second place in the 1500m (4.09.86). Matthew Dubery had also run the 1500m, setting a pb of 4.12.15, before later winning the 2000m steeplechase in 6.32.79.
In the under 17s, Oliver Brooke stormed to a 400m win in 51.44, which took more than a second from his previous best time, set a month earlier.
