Anton Bachorski, of Tonbridge Athletic Club, finished fifth in the Polish under 20 men’s indoor 60 metres final on Saturday, at Torun. He ran 6.90 seconds and finished just 0.04s away from the bronze medal position. In his heat, earlier in the day, he had recorded 6.95, which improved on his best this season, from two weeks earlier.
After the 60 metres final, Bachorski finished second in his heat of the 200 metres, just 0.01s outside his personal best with 22.40. However, he didn’t race again, after feeling some tightness in his hamstring.
Bachorski intends to remain in Poland, a while longer, to take advantage of the training facilities available, which have yet to be reopened in the UK. However, no further races are planned for this indoor season. He now looks forward to the Summer, with hopefully the prospect of a full track season, which might include targeting the European and World under 20 Championships, should he be able to maintain progress.
Tonbridge AC has continued it’s challenge offered to members during the current pandemic lockdown. Nominations are accepted by a judging panel, with awards being made to several worthy athletes. The latest list of prizes were handed to Lewis Collins, Harry Wrigley, James Kingston, Aimee Holdstock, Freya Ridge, Emily Bowart and Ellie MacAuley. The prize winners were nominated for a variety of reasons, which included helping others, charitable efforts, significant training consistency and willingness to adapt in the current circumstances.
