Letter from James Taylor (acting chair) to all members and athletes
Dear Member,
I hope you and your family are safe and well.
I am pleased to update you on the Club’s position based on the latest guidance from England Athletics, following the slight softening of the Government stance from the previous week. I expect this to be the first of several communications to you as we gradually return to ‘normal’.
I encourage all competing members to read the latest guidance for themselves at https://www.englandathletics.org/athletics-and-running/news/guidance-update-for-restricted-return-to-activity-for-coaches-leaders-athletes-runners-and-facilities/ .
In short:
– coaching is now permitted, strictly 1-to-1, with social distancing
– U18 athletes must be accompanied by parent/guardian
– No Jumps / Pole Vault facilities to be used
For Tonbridge AC, we are pleased that Tonbridge School track (and the lower fields) are now open for club training at strictly limited times, under direct 1-to-1 supervision by our coaches.
We are organising a rota of willing coaches and athletes who wish to take advantage of this provision should contact their coach directly. Some coaches may have already acted on this. Please note that, given large group sizes, most coaches of junior athletes are unlikely to offer training slots at this time. Distance coaches will also likely wait for further easing of lockdown; keep following their communications directly.
If you are hoping to train at the track or lower field, please read the detailed rules below carefully. We risk a regression of our facility use if there is non-compliance.
Many thanks to the School and our coaches for making it possible for TAC to begin to return to organised training.
Best wishes
James Taylor
Chairman (Acting)
