Tonbridge finish second in Kent Young Athletes League

Tonbridge Athletic Club’s under 13 and 15 age group athletes competed at Dartford on Saturday, in the final match of the Kent Young Athletes League season. They did enough to secure the runners-up spot, in the top division, behind Blackheath and Bromley AC, but ahead of the six other clubs.

Two of the under 15 girls had double-victories, as Genevieve Harper completed both 100m and 200m wins in 12.7 and 26.8, plus Araba Taylor won the 75m hurdles in 12.8 and the Javelin with 27.68m. The only win from the under 15 boys came in the 4×300 metres relay.

At the under 13 level, there were three wins from the girls and the same from the boys. The girls’ wins came from Ayanfeoluwa Afolabi (150m, 20.2), Tiffany Oyewale (70m hurdles, 12.3) and Seren Field (Javelin 25.16m). In the boys’ events, Jacob McGreachy won the 200m in 27.7, Sam Foster the Discus with 21.38m and Max Hepburn Evans the Hammer with 18.94m.

This age group squad will be heading the National final for the UK Youth Development League, at the start of September.
