When you reach a certain age and look back on your life, you usually think about the changes that have happened during your lifetime.
But it’s worth reflecting sometimes on the constants that have accompanied your journey and for me Tonbridge AC has been a constant since 1972, when I joined as an U15.
Welcoming me to the club was a well established group of sprinters, including the recipient of this year’s Presidents Trophy. A few year’s later when I reached U17 I was honoured to be part of the Southern Men’s League 4×400 squad (which included previous winner Gerry LeRoy – 1971) and even then in 1978 our recipient was considered an ‘older’ member of the club.
Fast forward some 50+ years and he is still donning his spikes regularly in Open Meetings and still setting records.
