Three Tonbridge Athletic Club women were selected for international duty to compete at the Loughborough International Meeting, at the university, on Sunday. Teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Great Britain Juniors, a National League team and Loughborough University competed. Lucy Tallon ran for the Great Britain under 20s team, whilst both Asha Root and Rae Le Fay were in the England team.
Root had a tremendous race, moving through in the home straight of the 400 metres to finish 2nd in 54.98, as five competitors finished within 0.3 seconds of each other. It was Root’s fastest time of the season so far and just outside her best-ever time.
Rae Le Fay also had a fine run, pacing the 3000 metres steeplechase well to finish 3rd of the eleven starters, in 10.41.16, just outside her best. Lucy Tallon ran for the Great Britain Juniors 4×100 metres relay team, who finished 2nd to a Great Britain senior team.
Elsewhere, there were some wins for Tonbridge distance runners around the country. Jamie Macdonald won the British Milers Club 3000 metres, in Fleet, Somerset, with a big pb of 8.21.91.
