Two Tonbridge AC members got married on Sunday, at the Old Kent Barn, Swingfield, between Folkestone and Canterbury. The guest list included Tonbridge AC members, both past and present and several Olympians. Sean joined Tonbridge in 2008 as an under 13 and Jess in 2013. At one stage, Sean held the club record for 800 metres and also set a UK age 16 record, whilst Jess has moved from sprinting to train and compete over longer distances. We wish them well for their future together.

On the competition front, it was a relatively quiet weekend. Craig Halsey won the Maidstone Half Marathon in tough conditions, recording 76.15. John Madden set a Tonbridge AC men’s over 50 age record at the Amsterdam Marathon, with 2.59.15, which improved the time set by James Beeston by 23 seconds. Interestingly, the club over 50 age group record is one mark where the women’s time is a bit quicker than the men’s, with Maria Heslop having recorded 2.56.56. Mason Willis also ran at the Amsterdam Marathon, recording 2.36.40.

Tom Weston-Simons, who is in the under 15 age group, was the first Tonbridge AC runner home in the Tonbridge 10k road race on Saturday, although it is held around Hildenborough and Leigh. He ran 38.49.

Also on Sunday, Max Selby made his debut over 10 miles on the road, at the Cabbage Patch race, at Twickenham, where he ran 52.26 and placed 14th.
