Lucy Reid, of Tonbridge Athletic Club, improved the women’s club record for 10 kilometres on the road to a superb 32.35, at Leeds, on Sunday. Reid finished third in the top-class Leeds Abbey Dash race, with her time putting her 7th on the UK rankings for the year and improved the Tonbridge record set by Nicole Taylor a year ago by 31 seconds.
Reid is the reigning Kent Cross Country Champion and recently ran 70.29 at the Copenhagen Half Marathon and aims to race the full marathon distance at some stage.
Ben Cole also produced an excellent performance at Leeds, finishing 8th in the men’s race in 29.39, which equalled his personal best and set a Tonbridge AC over 35 age group record, ranking him 4th in the UK this year at that age.
The other Tonbridge runners in the race were Alasdair Kinloch 30.07 pb, Dan Bradley 31.47, Verity Hopkins 33.57 pb, Dan Longhurst 35.09 pb, Imogen Amos 36.03 and Nichola Evans 37.42 pb.
At the Tonbridge 10k on Sunday, Lizzie Owen and Charlotte Warren were the first two women home in 43.49 and 47.01.
