Tonbridge AC Bank Holiday Monday Meet – Preview

The first track and field meeting, since August, takes place at Tonbridge School on Monday 3rd May, with entries closing on Friday evening.

Sprints

The fastest entrants are Lewis Collins (photo) on the male side and Lucy Tallon (u17) from the females. Last weekend Lucy equalled the fastest TAC under 17 time ever for 100 metres of 12.20, although the wind reading was too strong for record purposes.

Over 400m Kieran Eland is the only sub 50s athlete entered although Ben Murphy with a pb of 50.08 will be giving it a go, a couple of hours after his 1000 metres. Emily Bowart and Issy Fassnidge, two sub 60 performers, head the women’s entries.

Throws

The TAC multi-eventers are scheduled to be out in force. Lucinda White (u17) and David Fullbrook head the entries, with pbs of 42.22m and 53.84m, respectively. International Decathlete Lewis Church with a 42.99m pb heads the Discus entries, with under 17 Dante McNicholl one to look out for. In the Hammer, coach Charlotte Nicholls will be setting out to practise what she preaches as the longest thrower on paper. Harry Kendall and Lucinda White are the strongest Shot Putters on the entry list.

Horizontal Jumps

The Long Jump is the most popular field event in terms of entries and includes Georgia Baker and Samantha Stubbs who have bests in excess of 5 metres and three decathletes who have jumped over 6 metres in Lewis Church, Harry Kendall and Alex Hookway.

The Triple Jump is the least popular field event with Ben Wilkes (u17) currently the only entrant.

Vertical Jumps

Two under 20s in Zac Beasty and Freya Ridge head the entries, whilst the Pole Vault has a healthy number of entrants of all abilities and will be split into two pools, again featuring some good multi-eventers.

Middle Distance Track

The 800 metres sees the fastest entrants being under 17s on the men’s and women’s side, whilst the 1500 metres features four runners who have run under 4.10 and schools international Katie Goodge.

The 1000 metres was scheduled to produce a match-up of 800m and 1500m athletes and should prove an interesting contest with the likes of 1.49 800m athlete Ben Murphy against 3.45 1500m runner Kieran Reilly and others.
