Some more Tonbridge Athletic Club members returned to competitive action over the weekend, with multi-eventer Harry Kendall and sprinter Lucy Tallon producing the headline performances.
Tallon, who is in the under 17 age group this season competed at the Lee Valley Open Meeting on Saturday, producing personal best performances in the sprints. In the 100 metres she ran 12.51, with a wind reading of 1.2 metres per second, which is her fastest legal time, being within the allowed 2.0 metres per second. In the 200 metres her 25.93 was also a personal best, during her first competition day of the year.
Harry Kendall, one of the club’s international decathletes, won the Javelin at the Blackheath and Bromley AC Open Meeting on Sunday, throwing 55.59 metres, which was just 23 centimetres short of his personal best. Training partner Lewis Church took 2nd place with a throw of 50.53 metres.
There were two other Tonbridge wins at Bromley with Josh Prendergast (under 17) running under nine minutes for 3000 metres for the first time ever with 8.57.90, which was also the fastest time across the three heats. Ethan Rocks (u17) improved his best 800 metres performance to 2.09.95 in winning heat 6.
Over 600 metres, at Bromley, Ewan Wood (u20) finished 2nd in the fastest race, recording a personal best of 1.23.38, whilst over 1500 metres there were pbs from David Barclay (u17) 4.47.36 and Oliver Head (u15) 4.50.43, with Harrison Fraser (u15) close to his best with 4.48.90.
Harriet Woolley ran a strong 3000 metres to place 4th, not far away from her best performance in 10.41.51, with brother Tom recording 10.04.74, in the over 40 age group.
The athletic club has returned to training within specified guidelines. Potential new members are welcome to enquire although in most cases there is a waiting list, at least until capacities can be increased.
