Weekend News Report - 29th September 2019
Ben Cole Runs Fast Half Marathon
Ben Cole took 51 seconds off his half marathon personal best, on Sunday, when he ran 66.02 to finish 10th in the Great Scottish Run. This was despite taking a fall early on in the race. The time puts him second on the Tonbridge AC all time list, behind Henry Pearce's 65.49, set last year.
Cole is currently in training for the Frankfurt Marathon, which takes place on the last weekend of October. Before then he is scheduled to be part of the Tonbridge team that competes in the National Road Relay Championships, at Sutton Coldfield, this coming Sunday.
On what was an otherwise quiet weekend for Tonbridge AC members, three found themselves racing each other in the USA, at the Bill Dellinger Cross Country Invitational, at Oregon. James West, racing for the host university, had probably his best ever cross country performance, when finishing third on the flat and fast eight kilometre course in 23.32. George Duggan and Corey De'Ath, had their first races for Portland, finishing 41st and 82nd, in 24.21 and 25.01, respectively.
